Applied Optics is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Optical Society of America three times a month. It was established in 1963 with John N. Howard as founding editor. The journal has four divisions of editorial scope: optical technology, information processing, lasers, photonics and environmental optics, and biomedical optics.
